South Bend SB1078 Follow Rest X37

A follow rest is a lathe accessory designed to support long, slender workpieces during machining operations. It is attached to the lathe carriage and moves synchronously with the cutting tool.

The SB1078 is equipped with adjustable jaws that prevent the workpiece from deflecting in either direction during the cutting process. The upper jaw counteracts upward forces, while the lower jaw resists downward deflection.

This tool is particularly useful for cutting threading on long, flexible shafts, where rigidity is essential to achieve accurate results.

This X37 follow rest fits our entire of South Bend Big Bore lathes and needs to be ordered at the time of lathe purchase, as it will be installed at the factory.
