Maybe you’re building high-end river tables, or maybe you just need to fill a stubborn knot in an otherwise gorgeous slab of walnut. Whatever the case, if you’ve ever bought cheap, mystery-brand epoxy off the internet, you know the smell—the one that makes you wonder if you’re suddenly missing brain cells.

That’s exactly why we are incredibly proud to announce that Bad Owl Tool is now officially stocking EcoPoxy. And we aren't just dipping our toes in the water; we are bringing on nearly their entire product lineup.

Why EcoPoxy?

At Bad Owl Tool, we don't just throw every shiny new product onto our shelves. We curate. We test. We only sell what we actually want to use in our own shops. EcoPoxy meets that standard, and then some.

Unlike traditional petroleum-based resins that smell like a chemical plant and yellow over time, EcoPoxy utilizes bio-based ingredients. It is formulated with plant-based materials, meaning it has a significantly lower odor and is safer to work with in small workshop environments. But don't let the "eco" part fool you into thinking it's weak—this stuff cures incredibly hard, machines beautifully, and finishes like glass.

The Heavy Hitters: What We’re Stocking

We are carrying the full ecosystem, from resins to pigments. Here are the core products you need to know about:

FlowCast (For Deep Pours)

If you are pouring a river table or filling large, deep voids, FlowCast is your weapon of choice. It is a highly highly fluid, casting epoxy formulated for pours between 1/2" and 1.5" thick depending on total volume. Because it cures slowly, it manages its exothermic heat buildup perfectly, preventing those tragic, bubbling cracks that happen when a pour gets too hot. It also releases bubbles exceptionally well on its own.

FlowCast® SPR (Small Project Resin)

We can't forget the middle child! Sometimes you don't need to pour a massive dining table. Sometimes you're just casting a few pen blanks, making some coasters, or filling a medium-sized void that doesn't quite warrant the slow cure of standard FlowCast. That’s where FlowCast® SPR shines. Formulated for pours between 1/4" and 1", it cures faster than its big brother, letting you get to the machining and polishing stages much sooner. It's an absolute game-changer for woodturners and small-batch makers.

UVPoxy (For Coatings and Shallow Fills)

Need a rock-hard, high-gloss topcoat? Or maybe you just need to fill some shallow cracks and punky spots? UVPoxy is the answer. It’s designed for pours 1/4" or thinner. It cures much faster than FlowCast and is heavily formulated to resist UV yellowing, keeping your clear coats looking clear for years down the road.

Color Pigments and Accessories

Clear epoxy is great, but sometimes you want it to pop. We’re stocking EcoPoxy’s liquid color pigments, metallic color pigments, and polyester color glitters. Whether you want a solid opaque black for a modern void fill or a swirling, translucent blue for a river table, their pigment lines mix flawlessly with both FlowCast and UVPoxy.

Pro Tips for Working with Epoxy

• Ratios are not suggestions: FlowCast mixes at a 2:1 ratio by volume. UVPoxy mixes at a 1:1 ratio by volume. Do not eyeball this. Do not guess. If your ratio is off, your epoxy will remain a sticky, gummy nightmare that you will spend days scraping off your project.
• Temperature is everything: Epoxy is highly temperature-dependent. Keep your shop and your epoxy between 70°F and 75°F (21°C - 24°C). If your shop is freezing, the epoxy will be thick and trap bubbles. If your shop is an oven, it will flash cure and boil.
• Seal your molds: Epoxy is essentially water before it cures. It will find a leak. Use proper tuck tape or sheathing tape, and seal the edges of your form with silicone.
• The two-cup mixing method: Mix your epoxy thoroughly in one container, scraping the sides and bottom. Then, pour it into a second clean container and mix it again. This guarantees that unmixed resin from the sides of the first cup doesn't end up in your pour.

Disclaimer: While EcoPoxy is a bio-based, low-odor product, it is still a chemical compound. Always read the manufacturer's safety data sheets (SDS). Wear nitrile gloves, protect your eyes, and ensure your workspace is adequately ventilated. "Low odor" does not mean "no VOCs." Work smart, not fast.
