Bad Owl Tool App Update: Precision Epoxy & Part A/B Calculators

We just launched the latest version of the Bad Owl Tool app on the web and the Google Play Store, bringing precision math directly to your workbench. By collaborating directly with the EcoPoxy team, we've built a calculator that eliminates the guesswork from dimensional volume, liquid volume, mass, and complex mix ratios.

The "Oops" Salvage Calculator (Part A / Part B)

If you’ve ever poured too much hardener and panicked while trying to do the math in your head before the mixing cup starts smoking, this feature is for you. We included a dedicated Part A / Part B calculator for when things go sideways. Instead of just calculating your total batch size, you can tell the app exactly how much of one part you accidentally poured, and it will automatically solve for the exact amount of the other part needed to save the mixture.

Mass and Volume Precision

Volume measurements aren't always practical, especially for highly viscous resins that cling to the sides of your measuring cups. If you prefer weighing your epoxy—which is generally more accurate anyway—the app now handles all dimensional volume, liquid volume, and mass calculations. Because resin and hardener have different specific gravities, mass ratios rarely match volume ratios. We integrated the exact specifications for top EcoPoxy finishes to ensure your scale readings are flawless:

  • EcoPoxy FlowCast: 2:1 by volume, but calculates at 2.3:1 by mass.
  • EcoPoxy FlowCast SPR: 2:1 by volume, 2.5:1 by mass.
  • EcoPoxy UVPoxy: 1:1 by volume, 1.2:1 by mass.
  • EcoPoxy BioPoxy: 4:1 by volume, 4.3:1 by mass.

Additives and Pigments

Calculating tints can easily ruin a pour if overdone, turning a translucent river table into a muddy mess. The calculator cross-references the required epoxy volume against optimal pigment ratios, giving you precise targets. The app automatically dials in requirements like 4.23–8.45 grams per Liter for Mica Pigment Powders, or 0.1–5.0 mL per Liter for EcoPoxy Liquid Color Pigments.

Built-in Waste Buffers

The app doesn't just give you the raw math. It breaks down your mix into the exact required amount, a +2% buffer for minimum waste, and a +4% buffer to ensure you don't come up short on a critical pour. Scraping the bottom of the mixing bucket because you were 20ml short is a mistake you only want to make once.

Stop eyeballing expensive chemicals and hoping for the best. Load up the web version or download the app from the Google Play Store before your next deep pour.
